Trio in the dock
Three women have appeared together in court following a series of alleged incidents in Castle Douglas at the weekend.
Ashleigh Chalmers, 29, and Caitlin Rankine, 24, both of Dee Avenue, along with 18-year-old Erin McClone, of Burghfield Gardens, all Castle Douglas, were in the dock at Dumfries Sheriff Court.
Chalmers pleaded not guilty to behaving in a threatening manner at Dee Avenue shouting and swearing at police officers, making threats and abusive remarks.
She also denied making false allegations on a 999 call that police officers were breaking into a house, assaulting a policewoman by repeatedly striking her with a pair of handcuffs and twisting her hand, and struggling violently with officers.
Rankine pleaded not guilty to obstructing officers arresting McClone and repeatedly attempting to open the door of a police vehicle in which Chalmers was detained.
Trial in their cases was set for December while sentence on McClone was deferred after she pleaded guilty to resisting and obstructing police officers and attempting to free Chalmers, throwing a piece of concrete at a police officer which struck him on the body, and assaulting a policewoman by repeatedly punching her and spitting on her.
