Special celebrations at estate
Alexander McCulloch celebrated 50 years in charge of Ardwall Estate in Gatehouse on Saturday.
He took over the running of the estate from his father, the late Walter McCulloch, in 1968.
Around 35 invited guests joined Alexander, his wife Fiona, their four children and their spouses for a dinner celebration at Ardwall House.
The evening also celebrated the retirement of Peter McNichol, who has worked on the estate for 40 years.
The guests were treated to a short movie of the history of Ardwall which was broadcast on BBC Landward in 1983 before enjoying a delicious meal.
The estate staff gifted Alexander with a personalised picture and Fiona received a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
A painting of Ardwall Island was gifted to Peter and the McCulloch family presented him with a Massey Ferguson Border Fine Art ornament.
