World Cup opener
Grant Hardie helped Scotland finish in third place in the first leg of the Curling World Cup.
The Kirkgunzeon curler (pictured right) was part of Bruce Mouat’s team, along with Stranraer duo Bobbie Lammie and Hammy McMillan, at the competition held at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre in China.
The group stage saw them record two wins over Japan and victories over Canada and Switzerland, their two defeats coming to the latter rinks.
That wasn’t quite enough for them to top the group, Canada going on to defeat Norway in the final.
The Curling World Cup is a new tournament with three legs being held to deciding who makes the grand final in Beijing next year. The next leg will be in Omaha, America in December.
Team Mouat is now training in Canada ahead of the first Grand Slam of Curling event in Ontaria, Canada next week.
