Blacks record first win
knocked on by full back John Fingland, a first for him in more than two seasons.
The second try did come when Muir gathered on half way combining with Austin and Milligan to put Picken in at the posts, Mosey again convering to make it 14-10, a lead Stewartry held to the interval.
A determined start saw Cumnock pick up where they left off with a third try out left while their scrum half lay injured.
Broll, Austin and Mosey soon took play into the visitors’ 22 where Mosey kicked a penalty to make it 17-15
Another penalty saw Taylor dive over from the line out but the try was chalked off, the referee deciding there had been a previous knock on.
Undeterred, Stewartry stuck to their task, keeping up the pressure on Cumnock and the bonus point try came when Austin, Fingland and Wilson opened up the defence for Mattie Taylor to touch down. Mosey converted.
Stewartry were in the driving seat but yet another touchdown, this time by Underwoord, was disallowed before the on fire Taylor finished off some great lead up play by Austin and Wilson with his second try of the afternoon, Mosey converting.
It was then Wilson’s turn to jink through the Cumnock ranks and feed hard working scrum half Picken who scored at the posts. Mosey’s conversion took the score to 38-15.
Wilson, back in Blacks colours after playing a number of seasons at a higher level, got his reward when centre David Kerr found space to give him an easy run for the sixth try which Mosey converted.
Cumnock battled hard throughout the game and their efforts were rewarded with fourth bonus point try in injury time to make it 45-20.
The five points was a boost for the Blacks who face a trip this weekend to seventh placed Cambuslang who beat Cumnock the previous week 55-19 at Cumnock.
