Nominate your sporting heroes
The search is on to find the Stewartry’s top sporting stars.
Nominations for this year’s Stewartry Sports Awards, which are organised by Stewartry Sports Council, are now open. The ceremony aims to recognise all the hard work and achievements of the area’s sportswomen, men, coaches, teams and clubs in 2018.
The Stewartry may not be the biggest area but it punches above its weight when it comes to sporting excellence and the judges will have a tough time deciding this year’s winners.
The nomination process is your chance to make sure the right people are recognised and it’s important to ensure you put forward your favourite candidate so they aren’t overlooked.
All entries will be considered by the expert panel of judges and the winners will be announced at Ernespie House Hotel in Castle Douglas on Friday, November 16, with everyone welcome to attend the ceremony.
Local businesses are keen to see sportspeople recognised through their continued sponsorship of the awards and the sports council is grateful to them for their continued support. This year’s categories are:
Sports Personality of the Year, sponsored by the Galloway News: This category is open to any person living in, or originally from, the Stewartry who has achieved success at local, national or international level.
