Bank deal paves way for firm’s de­vel­op­ment

A dy­namic Cas­tle Dou­glas com­pany could be set to hire more staff af­ter se­cur­ing fi­nance to fund ex­pan­sion plans.

The deal with the Cly­des­dale Bank will al­low Scott Coun­try In­ter­na­tional to build a whole­sale dis­tri­bu­tion net­work.

The new ven­ture wi l l com­ple­ment the firm’s lu­cra­tive ex­ist­ing re­tail busi­ness.

Direc­tor Cowan Scott said: “This new fund­ing op­tion has al­lowed us to con­sid­er­ably shorten the time frame for busi­ness de­vel­op­ment.

“From a re­tail per­spec­tive, we are now in a po­si­tion to strengthen our hold over the mar­ket while broad­en­ing our prod­uct port­fo­lio, thus spread­ing risk.

“We are now also able to in­vest in more stock im­ported from the USA to ser­vice de­mand from an in­creas­ing num­ber of UK and Ir­ish re­tail out­lets.”

Scott Coun­try be­gan trad­ing in 2000 and now em­ploys five peo­ple full-time.

It is one of the UK’s lead­ing spe­cial­ists in night vi­sion and ther­mal imag­ing equip­ment.

The com­pany also sells pre­mium qual­ity ap­parel for hunters, ad­vanced wildlife cam­eras and other ac­ces­sories,

An­nual sales turnover is es­ti­mated to reach or ex­ceed £4 mil­lion by the end of this year. Mr Scott added: “Our vi­sion is clear – to grow both sides of the busi­ness in the years ahead.

“This will in­evitably lead to a higher num­ber of staff be­ing re­cruited within the next two years.”

Cly­des­dale Bank com­mer­cial re­la­tion­ship man­ager Alan Good­win said: “I look for­ward to watch­ing Scott Coun­try con­tinue to suc­ceed in its in­dus­try into the fu­ture.”
