Expansion plan sparks job hopes
Bank deal paves way for firm’s development
A dynamic Castle Douglas company could be set to hire more staff after securing finance to fund expansion plans.
The deal with the Clydesdale Bank will allow Scott Country International to build a wholesale distribution network.
The new venture wi l l complement the firm’s lucrative existing retail business.
Director Cowan Scott said: “This new funding option has allowed us to considerably shorten the time frame for business development.
“From a retail perspective, we are now in a position to strengthen our hold over the market while broadening our product portfolio, thus spreading risk.
“We are now also able to invest in more stock imported from the USA to service demand from an increasing number of UK and Irish retail outlets.”
Scott Country began trading in 2000 and now employs five people full-time.
It is one of the UK’s leading specialists in night vision and thermal imaging equipment.
The company also sells premium quality apparel for hunters, advanced wildlife cameras and other accessories,
Annual sales turnover is estimated to reach or exceed £4 million by the end of this year. Mr Scott added: “Our vision is clear – to grow both sides of the business in the years ahead.
“This will inevitably lead to a higher number of staff being recruited within the next two years.”
Clydesdale Bank commercial relationship manager Alan Goodwin said: “I look forward to watching Scott Country continue to succeed in its industry into the future.”
