Char­ity con­cert suc­cess

An af­ter­noon con­cert at Gar­den­wise in Dum­fries raised £218 for Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port.

The event was hosted by The Gallo­vid­i­ans who played an in­ter­est­ing as­sort­ment of tunes in­clud­ing reels, Strath­speys, waltzes and slow airs.

The guest artists wereThe Cor­berry Park Pipers, di­rected by Jim McCon­nachie.The young play­ers showed off their tal­ent and gave a lovely per­for­mance which was ap­pre­ci­ated by the au­di­ence.

The witty com­pere, Ian MacIn­tyre from Kirkcud­bright, in­tro­duced the mu­sic and also en­ter­tained the au­di­ence with a few songs.

DerekWat­son from MacMil­lan Can­cer Sup­port gave a short ad­dress about the char­ity’s lo­cal work, in­clud­ing their sup­port cen­tre at the new Dum­fries and Gal­loway Royal In­fir­mary. Spe­cial thanks to Alis­tair Ber­tram, owner of Gar­den­wise, for once again pro­vid­ing the venue and to all the au­di­ence who gave very gen­er­ously to the col­lec­tion.
