Dalbeattie woman’s death ‘un­ex­plained’

An in­ves­ti­ga­tion is un­der way after a Dalbeattie woman was found dead in her car near Lau­rieston.

The body of Chris­tine Hilton, 62, was found in herVaux­hall As­tra in a layby on the A762 onTues­day, Novem­ber 27.

Po­lice Scot­land are treat­ing the death as un­ex­plained and a re­port has been sub­mit­ted to the procu­ra­tor fis­cal.

A spokesper­son said:“The re­sult of the post mortem is in­con­clu­sive and fur­ther tests are on­go­ing.

“At this time there are no sus­pi­cious cir­cum­stances.”

De­tec­tive In­spec­tor Dean Lit­tle of Dum­fries CID urged any­one who saw Ms Hilton, pic­tured right, or her ve­hi­cle in the days prior to Novem­ber 27 to get in touch.

He said:“En­quiries have iden­ti­fied that Mrs Hilton’s greyVaux­hall As­tra, reg­is­tered num­ber KD06YZT, was within the car park­ing area to the east ofWood­hall Loch which is one mile north of Lau­rieston on the A762 New Gal­loway road on both Mon­day, 26 andTues­day, Novem­ber 27.

“I am keen to es­tab­lish when the ve­hi­cle ar­rived at this lo­ca­tion and would ask any­body who ob­served the ve­hi­cle there to make con­tact with the po­lice.”
