Firms aim for pie hon­ours

Two Dum­fries and Gal­loway firms are clos­ing in on the pres­ti­giousWorld Cham­pi­onship Scotch Pie awards.

Bal­lard Butch­ers and the Lit­tle Bak­ery have both been con­firmed as fi­nal­ists fol­low­ing a full day’s judg­ing in Dun­fermline.

And the news comes just days after Lit­tle Bak­ery bosses un­veiled plans to cre­ate 10 new jobs in Kirkcud­bright fol­low­ing the takeover of a former M Cor­son shop in St Cuth­bert Street.

The­World Cham­pi­onship Scotch Pie award win­ners will be re­vealed on Jan­uary 15.

Bal­lard Butch­ers, of Cas­tle Dou­glas, and Lit­tle Bak­ery, of Heath­hall, are nom­i­nated as fi­nal­ists and Scot­tish Bak­ers’head judge Ian Nel­son said:“The com­pe­ti­tion has been fierce. So Bal­lard Butch­ers and Lit­tle Bak­ery can both be proud to have come this far.
