Gatehouse gets festive

The Galloway News - - CHRISTMAS LIGHTS -

Gatehouse volunteers got into the festive spirit on Saturday to put up Christmas trees and lights in the town.

Organisers Gatehouse Christmas Lights Group braved driving rain throughout the morning to bedeck the main street.

Tesco’s ‘Bags of Help’ scheme together with local business donations meant the group had £1,300 to purchase new lights and accessories for this year’s display.

The cash also paid for the hire of a cherrypicker to decorate the bigger trees and connect up new sockets and cables.

And it funded 37 trees to supply local residents with wall–mounted trees as well as three large Christmas trees for the top of the town, the old town hall and the car park.

Lights group spokesperson Linda Vallance said: “A big thank you from the lights group to all who donated and helped to make all of this possible.”
