Ellisland Farm near Dumfries is to host a young trad Christmas concert with lots of local talent and folk stars.

The musical feast has been organised by Ellisland’s youth ambassador, 13-year-old Rose Byers from Lockerbie, pictured right.

Tomorrow’s event includes the region’s best young trad musicians along with junior Burnsian piper Gregor Grierson, Gaelic and Scots band Burnswark, singer Rowan Hastie, clarsach player Priya Rome, fiddler Aisling Anderson and flute player Rosie Ford.

The special guests are BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards winners Josie Duncan and Pablo Lafuente, a vocal/guitar duo.

Calling the Isle of Lewis and Glasgow/Spain home, it’s no wonder their music doesn’t focus on one place or on one of the many strands of Scotland’s web of traditions.

On guitar and vocals in Gaelic, Scots and English, their music is a round tour where centuries-old ballads meet songs from the mines and cotton mills as well as some original writing.

Tickets are available from Ellisland and the Midsteeple box office, Dumfries. Telephone 01387 253383.
