Medals for GB swim­mer Char­lie

Pal­nackie swim­mer Char­lie Hutchi­son won two medals while rep­re­sent­ing Bri­tain at the On­tario Ju­nior In­ter­na­tional.

The 16-year-old was part of a group of 16 swim­mers cho­sen to rep­re­sent GB and he made the fi­nals in all four of his races.

He posted a per­sonal best in the 400 in­di­vid­ual med­ley, his time of 4:11.96 eight sec­onds quicker than his pre­vi­ous best and mak­ing him the fastest Bri­tish 16-year-old.

Two days later Char­lie again posted a per­sonal best, this time in the 200m in­di­vid­ual med­ley, his 1:59.98 again mak­ing him the fastest Bri­tish 16-year-old.

He was also the first 16-year-old to duck un­der the two minute bar­rier. He won a sil­ver and a bronze medal for these races. In Au­gust, Char­lie was se­lected onto the Bri­tish Swim­ming world class per­for­mance pro­gramme for the 2018/19 sea­son with the po­ten­tial of be­ing of­fered a rolling year depend­ing on re­sults.

He is one of the youngest boys to be se­lected onto the pro­gramme.
