Kids celebrate national treats
Children from primaries 5, 5/6, 6, 6/7 and 7 held a Scottish Day at Castle Douglas Primary.
The pupils were able to taste Lockerbie cheddar, haggis, oatcakes,Tunnock’s caramel wafers and Irn-Bru. And they rated each product as part of their taste test.
They also learned to play Caledonia on ukuleles and used their research skills to take part in an online treasure hunt. By using Google Maps, they made a virtual journey to travel around Scotland and find the answers to clues.
They also worked in teams to develop an advert for a new Scottish drink, filming it in front of the green screen. The clips are now available on the school blog.
And they created artwork inspired by the work of Steven Brown with their general knowledge of Scotland put to the test in a Big Fat Scottish Quiz.
The day focused on collaborative working and the skills required for good team work.
