Fun fol­low-up, but far from awe­some

We’re also treated to a smor­gas­bord of sen­sa­tional sights and sounds; the com­bi­na­tion of sandy, post-apoc­a­lyp­tic and rain­bow, day-glow vi­su­als and know­ing voice work from the likes of Ja­son Mo­moa (Aqua­man).

But one of the finest things about the first film was its brav­ery in swip­ing the rug out from the au­di­ence’s feet dur­ing its fi­nal third.

There’s no such dar­ing bril­liance this time around and there’s an over­re­liance on Will Ar­nett’s Bat­man who, lets not for­get, had his own movie.

The slight drop-off in qual­ity is best summed up by the sound­track’s Catchy Song; well named it may be, but it’s no in­stant clas­sic ala the orig­i­nal’s Every­thing is Awe­some.
