Pupils at Springholm Pri­mary took part in a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties to cel­e­brate the life of Robert Burns.

The whole school en­joyed a Burns lunch of hag­gis, neeps and tat­ties and Alexis Knee­shaw per­formed an“Ad­dress to the Hag­gis”.

She then worked with some of the chil­dren, who are com­pet­ing in the Dum­fries DGBA Burns com­pe­ti­tion, to give ad­vice on per­form­ing Scot­tish po­etry for an au­di­ence.

Lo­cal piper and Cas­tle Dou­glas High School stu­dent Micken­zie Mitchell came and played the bag­pipes for the whole school and then did a ques­tion and an­swer ses­sion about play­ing the bag­pipes.

P5/6/7 did some Scot­tish coun­try danc­ing and also en­joyed tast­ing some Scot­tish food in­clud­ing lo­cal cheeses, tablet and short­bread.
