Stewartry win at the double
U18s triumph in both the cup and the league
RUGBY Friday night saw all the south west clubs represented at the pre-match hospitality for the vital Glasgow v Ulster Guinness PRO 14 game, won by the Warriors 30-7.
On Saturday, Edinburgh won 20-12 away at Scarlets to keep their hopes of a play-off position alive with two games to play.
Also on Saturday Ayr won the Scottish championship, the Tennent’s Premiership play-off, beating Heriots 29-23 in a hard fought game, coming back from 0-10 down.
Back home at Greenlaw Stewartry under-18s won the West Region Bowl to complete the double with the league already won under Colts captain Andy Budde. Fraser Forsyth and Lochie Spence scored two tries and two penalties from Frank Gwynne gave the Colts a 16-10 win over Cartha Queen’s Park Colts.
Tennent’s National League Two: Highland secured second place when they beat Peebles away 16-5. Dumfries remain in fourth place.
Tennent’s National Three: Ardrossan Accies finished third behind second placed Newton Stewart when they beat Hillhead Jordanhill 44-14. Tennent’s West One: Leaders East Kilbride, on 93 points, beat Garnock 28-12. Allan Glens are in second place on 87 points after a 14-3 win over Strathendrick and Glens have two games to play. In third place are Greenock who have 81 points and three games in hand after beating Annan 33-13. Dalziel moved off the bottom after drawing with Irvine 24-24.
Tennent’s West Three: Wigtownshire in eighth place had their best result of the season beating Cumbernauld 69-19.
