U18s tri­umph in both the cup and the league

RUGBY Fri­day night saw all the south west clubs rep­re­sented at the pre-match hos­pi­tal­ity for the vi­tal Glas­gow v Ul­ster Guin­ness PRO 14 game, won by the War­riors 30-7.

On Satur­day, Ed­in­burgh won 20-12 away at Scar­lets to keep their hopes of a play-off po­si­tion alive with two games to play.

Also on Satur­day Ayr won the Scot­tish cham­pi­onship, the Tennent’s Premier­ship play-off, beat­ing He­ri­ots 29-23 in a hard fought game, com­ing back from 0-10 down.

Back home at Green­law Ste­wartry un­der-18s won the West Re­gion Bowl to com­plete the dou­ble with the league al­ready won un­der Colts cap­tain Andy Budde. Fraser Forsyth and Lochie Spence scored two tries and two penal­ties from Frank Gwynne gave the Colts a 16-10 win over Cartha Queen’s Park Colts.

Tennent’s Na­tional League Two: High­land se­cured se­cond place when they beat Pee­bles away 16-5. Dum­fries re­main in fourth place.

Tennent’s Na­tional Three: Ar­drossan Ac­cies fin­ished third be­hind se­cond placed New­ton Ste­wart when they beat Hill­head Jor­dan­hill 44-14. Tennent’s West One: Lead­ers East Kil­bride, on 93 points, beat Garnock 28-12. Al­lan Glens are in se­cond place on 87 points af­ter a 14-3 win over Stra­then­drick and Glens have two games to play. In third place are Greenock who have 81 points and three games in hand af­ter beat­ing An­nan 33-13. Dalziel moved off the bot­tom af­ter draw­ing with Irvine 24-24.

Tennent’s West Three: Wig­town­shire in eighth place had their best re­sult of the sea­son beat­ing Cum­ber­nauld 69-19.
