Dal­beat­tie rider is driv­ing to suc­cess

EQUES­TRIAN Dal­beat­tie’s Matthew Pow­ell en­joyed a suc­cess­ful time at the Na­tional In­door Driv­ing Cham­pi­onships in Bed­ford­shire.

Matthew, who was part of the Sports Driv­ing Un­lim­it­edTeam, achieved a per­sonal best re­sult of fourth place in the novice ju­nior class driv­ing Lucy.

Team-mate Fin­lay Macrae from Langholm fin­ished sev­enth, with other team mem­bers do­ing well in the novice pony class, Dum­fries’Sarah Gemie win­ning the dres­sage phase driv­ing Strawbs.

Sports Driv­ing Un­lim­ited chair­man, Brenda Hodg­son, said:“Our team not only made us very proud but they also im­pressed the knowl­edge­able au­di­ence with their skills.

“It is a ter­rific ac­com­plish­ment for Sarah to win the dres­sage phase in such a large class and that Fin­lay and Mathew were chal­leng­ing the lead­ers in their class. For Matthew to be placed fourth is a tre­men­dous achieve­ment.”
