Wee Shop will back local artists and crafts people
A new charity shop with a difference is opening in Gatehouse of Fleet.
The Wee Shop in TGB Gatehouse’s new premises in the former Bank of Scotland on High Street will be staffed by volunteers.
The outlet is designed to provide local makers, crafters and artists a commissionfree way of displaying and marketing their produce.
TGB chairman Chris Barratt, pictured right, said: “Shelves can be rented by individual crafters and proceeds from weekly rents will go help fund TGB Gatehouse groups and activities.
“The shop will also provide a place where young TGB participants can market their own creations free of charge in order to build confidence and gain retail experience.
“On top of that it will provide a market-place for artefacts produced by members of the new TGB Shed Project.”
He added: “There has been considerable early interest and the shelves are expected to be full for the official opening on Saturday, May 4, from 11am-4pm”
All are welcome to attend the open day.
