Wee Shop will back lo­cal artists and crafts peo­ple

A new char­ity shop with a dif­fer­ence is open­ing in Gate­house of Fleet.

The Wee Shop in TGB Gate­house’s new premises in the former Bank of Scotland on High Street will be staffed by vol­un­teers.

The out­let is de­signed to pro­vide lo­cal mak­ers, crafters and artists a com­mis­sion­free way of dis­play­ing and mar­ket­ing their pro­duce.

TGB chair­man Chris Bar­ratt, pic­tured right, said: “Shelves can be rented by in­di­vid­ual crafters and pro­ceeds from weekly rents will go help fund TGB Gate­house groups and ac­tiv­i­ties.

“The shop will also pro­vide a place where young TGB par­tic­i­pants can mar­ket their own cre­ations free of charge in or­der to build con­fi­dence and gain re­tail ex­pe­ri­ence.

“On top of that it will pro­vide a mar­ket-place for arte­facts pro­duced by mem­bers of the new TGB Shed Project.”

He added: “There has been con­sid­er­able early in­ter­est and the shelves are ex­pected to be full for the of­fi­cial open­ing on Satur­day, May 4, from 11am-4pm”

All are wel­come to at­tend the open day.
