Go along and get on song
People from across the region are being invited to join Music in Dumfries for a fundraising come and sing day at St John’s Church in the town on Saturday.
Jamie Brand will be directing the day and the music will include Handel’s Zadok the Priest, John Rutter’s Requiem and an anthem by contemporary composer Andrew Carter.
A spokesman for the organisers said: “You don’t need to know the music, as the aim is to learn it during the course of the day and then have a final sing through, to which friends and family and general public are invited from 3pm to 4pm.
“You do not need to be an experienced singer so, if you would like to have a go, do come along. We are asking for a donation for entry with a small charge for music hire.
“If you have not already booked a place, and to ensure there are enough scores, call 01387 820848 or emailing music.in. dum[email protected]
“Otherwise, just turn up for what promises to be an enjoyable and fun day.“
Anyone who doesn’t want to sin can head along to hear the performance at 3pm.
