TENNIS KirkcudbrightTennis Club has entered a women’s team in the local league for the second time.

In the opening match, the team gave a much improved performance against a strong Dalbeattie team.

While they did not achieve an outright win in any of the pairings, many of the matches consisted several deuces and sets were closely fought going to 6-4, 6-4 in one of matches.

The team of Christine Agnew, Jill Johnston, Debbie McColm andWendy Roscoe then travelled to Annan and demonstrated their continuing improvement by winning all four matches.

The team is lead by non-playing captain June Nelson and supported by a number of reserve players.

There was a good turn out of young players for the Easter camp run by the club during the school holidays.

Around 20 youngsters took part in coaching sessions lead by Mark Sindall and assisted by Lily Judge.

Junior coaching is held on Saturday mornings and any youngsters who would like to learn to play tennis should contact the club secretary on 07885834458.
