Shoot­ing party fires off at Glenkens club

CLAY PIGEON SHOOT­ING Glenkens Gun Club held its an­nual clay pigeon shoot at Craig­head Farm, Dalry, on Satur­day, May 4.

The weather was much colder than ex­pected for May. How­ever, a field of 29 shoot­ers com­peted for the many tro­phies on of­fer and, although it was dry, scores in general were lower than usual.

John Car­son won the W D Lorimer Cup for the full day with a score of 137x150 and he also won the Brian Vin­cent Rose­bowl for the high­est over­all score for shoot­ers who have never been clas­si­fied A or AA in down-the-line.

Run­ner-up to the Rose­bowl and tak­ing the Car­ruthers Cup was Tom Dill with a score of 123x150. The Cou­p­land Cup for event three was won by David McMath with a per­fect score of 45x45 af­ter a shootoff with Bobby Ren­wick.

The McQuaker Cup for vet­eran shoot­ers over the age of 60 was won by Bobby Ren­wick with an ex­cel­lent score of 74x75 and he also col­lected the D H McCrone Shield for events two and three, hav­ing dropped only one point to be five points clear of his near­est ri­val.

The Kyle Cup and the Carnochan Me­mo­rial Tro­phy, both of which are con­fined to mem­bers of the com­mit­tee, were won by David Bell. The McNaught Cup for the Pool Trap was won by Fin­lay Bell and the run­ner-up was Davie McCul­loch.
