New homes plan on Dalbeattie site
Plans for 15 new houses on the site of a former builders’merchants in Dalbeattie have moved a step closer to reality.
IBF Property Ltd is proposing to redevelop the Jewson’s Station Road site which closed in November, 2016.
And the council this week granted planning permission in principle for the scheme.
Full approval is subject to a number of conditions including the number of affordable units and a definitive site layout.
IBF Property, which is based in Auchencairn, bought the site in November, 2017, and tried unsuccessfully to find a tenant.
Having failed on that front, they then proposed building 15 houses on the site saying this would “bring vitality and environmental improvement”to the area as well as“significant socio-economic benefits including supporting shops and services”.
Council officials received 12 letters of support for the proposals, the majority from people living close by the site, and just one objection.
As well as houses, IBF also intends to develop four industrial units and renovate the existing buildings to be rented out to local businesses.
