Demijohn plays host as Spring Fling venue
An award-winning liquid deli will be a new venue for this year’s Spring Fling Open Studios weekend.
Demijohn at Glenlair Steading between Kirkpatrick Durham and Corsock will be hosting a celebration of fine art and sculpture.
Pieces will be on display from Sally Jennings, a Glasgowbased painter, print maker and installation artist, and Marilyn Crawford, an award-winning Dumfriesshire-based sculptor and artist.
Sally will also be demonstrating her methods and visitors will be able to enjoy free food and drink tastings at Demijohn’s new store. Tapas, mocktails and cocktails will also be on offer.
Demijohn operates like an old-fashioned grocer or Italian cantina, bottling customers’ orders into refillable glass bottles on demand.
Owner Angus Ferguson said: “We were honoured that the committee of Spring Fling chose Demijohn as a new venue this year, as we are the newest visitor attraction in Galloway and this is our first major event since opening last year.
“Both Sally and Marilyn’s art is hugely inspiring so we can only hope the beautiful, historic setting of Glenlair Steading will do their work justice.”
Demijohn will be open from 10am to 5.30pm over the weekend of May 25 to 27 – with a special evening opening until 8pm on the first day.
