New role at leading bus firm could be just the ticket
A BUS operator is on the lookout for new recruits.
Bosses at McGill’s, which runs a number of routes in Renfrewshire, want to hear from local residents who are interested in a career in public transport.
There are currently a number of vacancies to be filled, including roles for drivers and mechanics.
Successful candidates will be joining a team that includes Ewan Gray, who started out working late shifts as a shunter and cleaner for an independent bus company at the age of 17.
He joined McGill’s in 2022 and was recently handed a promotion to the role of operations manager at the company’s busy Inchinnan depot.
Ewan, 32, said: “My new role is something very important to me and, having had an input in every side of the bus industry through my career, I feel I’m well placed to work with my great colleagues and the travelling public to continually enhance McGill’s offering.”
Alex Hornby, managing director at McGill’s Group, said Ewan is an example of how staff can rise through the ranks at the bus firm.
It operates its own training scheme, called the McGill’s Academy, to help employees gain the skills they need to climb the career ladder.
Mr Hornby added: “Our congratulations go to Ewan on his promotion to his new role.
“He is a real asset to the company and a great leader to our people.
“No matter your existing skillset, we are keen for people to engage with us and see if a role at McGill’s would suit your future ambitions.”
