TEESSIDE safety equipment firm UK Pods is relocating its head office to a larger base of operations to allow it to grow.

UK Pods – which won the newcomer of the year prize at this year’s North East Business Awards – designs and produces specialist equipment that can protect people during a physical intervention.

The firm’s Safety Pod can be used by those in a range of industries to protect people from serious injury.

The company has been based at the Material Processing Institute in Middlesbrough since May 2018 but has now revealed it is moving to a much larger site at the town’s Skippers Lane Industrial Estate.

Its new home will allow UK Pods to continue to grow by giving it larger manufacturing facilities and training spaces.

Palkesh Crawford, senior clinical skills consultant and joint owner of UK Pods, said the additional space would also help the firm’s plans to grow internationally.

He said: “When we discovered the Materials Processing Institute, we were delighted to see that its campus could provide us with everything we could hope for in order to continue our business growth and develop our services all under one roof.

“The team at the Institute have been extremely supportive of our aims and objectives and have always made us feel welcome.”

“The Materials Processing Institute has become a home away from home for all of the UK Pods team.

“However, as our business prepares itself ahead of the launch of its 2020 international growth plans, we have identified that we need even more space and it’s now time to move to even larger facilities on a new site based on Skippers Lane Industrial Estate.”

Anders Jersby, Material Processing Institute commercial director, said: “It has been our pleasure to witness and support the success and growth of UK Pods while based at the Institute.

“We set up the SME Technology Centre on the campus, with support from Tees Valley Combined Authority, through the Local Growth Fund to create opportunities for new, innovative and growing businesses to access our facilities, equipment and expertise. UK Pods is a perfect example of how this type of partnership can benefit businesses in the region.

“We wish UK Pods every success as it moves on to the next phase of its development and the Institute will continue to support and advise the business as appropriate.”

It’s now time to move to even larger facilities on a

new site based on Skippers Lane Industrial

Estate
