The farmer wants a wife ... or a husband
WHEN you live and work in the middle of nowhere, it’s pretty hard to find the one. Cows, sheep, wide open fields – no problem. Singletons looking for a date? Not so much.
Back for a second run, Sara Cox, who grew up on a farm, plays Cupid to seven rural romantics in need of a boost up the dating ladder.
“If your life revolves around the countryside, making time to find love can prove pretty tricky,” says Sara in this sweet series.
In this opener, we meet 23 year-old Grace, a dairy and sheep farmer from Wales, and
44-year-old Martin, a dairy farmer from Yorkshire who has not had a relationship for over a decade.
“It’s exhausting, demanding physical work, I need someone who understands that,” says Grace, whose dating pool has been restricted to the lairylooking louts at the Young Farmers’ Club.
The hopefuls have posted dating profiles online and asked anyone interested to write them a letter. On actual paper, with an actual pen. No lazy online swiping allowed.
Martin picks his favourite seven, while Grace picks six and they each have a chance to speed date their choices face to face.
Anyone who takes their fancy is invited to spend a weekend with them on their respective farms.
But a visit to Grace’s milking parlour ends in chaos with some of the men having zero country credentials.
Meanwhile, Martin is worried not only about his rusty dating skills, but his rather rustic looking farm.
Will it prove to be too much fresh air for a city girl?
