THE victim of a suspected murder has been named by police.
Hemwand Ali Hussain’s body was found in a terraced house on Charterhouse Street, in Hartlepool, at the weekend.
The death of the 30-year-old father of two young boys sparked a major police investigation.
Cleveland Police announced the victim’s name as a 38-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of Mr Hussain’s murder, remains in custody.
Paying tribute, the family of Mr Hussain said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our partner and father Hemwand and we request that we are left to grieve in peace at this extremely difficult time.”
Further arrests are anticipated as investigations into his suspected murder continue.
There is still a large police presence on the street where Mr Hussain’s body was discovered on Sunday.
One person reported seeing blood on the pavement and over a white vehicle that was wrapped and removed from the scene by police.
A police spokeswoman confirmed tto The Gazette yesterday that detectives had been granted an extension to detain and question the 38-yearold suspect.
The force continues to appeal for information but sought to reassure the public.
Temporary Detective Chief Inspector Mark Dimelow said: “We do not believe there is currently any risk to the wider public.
“Officers remain in the Charterhouse Street area to provide reassurance and residents are welcome to approach them with any concerns – or, equally, with information which could help us.
“We have installed a temporary base in Charterhouse Street itself as a focal point for the community who may want to speak with police.
“We have already had a number of people coming forward with information and I’d like to thank them for their help.
“House to house inquiries are taking place and we’re also examining local CCTV – as well as following up several other lines of inquiry. I do anticipate further arrests.”
