A BREWERY and tap room could be on its way to Marske if plans are approved.

Talking Tides Brew Co has lodged an application to transform a “vast” warehouse on the Longbeck Trading Estate.

The Teesside-based craft beer brand says it wants to open a “relaxed, inclusive” venue and “create something amazing for the area”.

The tap room would serve beers for “both drink-in and takeaway”, based on the successful brewtap venues springing up around the UK.

A change of use application is with Redcar and Cleveland Council planners which, if granted, would see AAA House on the trading estate transformed from ‘light industrial unit to brewery and drinking establishment.’

“Everyone is welcome,” the application says, “the beauty of brewery taprooms is they provide a unique, chilled atmosphere which sees everyone from nana to baby – men and women of all ages – made to feel welcome.

It is common to see people relaxing with cards, board games or just having a day out. We will also be dog friendly.”

The company says it isn’t planning on serving food, however mobile catering vans could set up on-site.

It also won’t be buying a “BT Sport / SkySports licence to show Premier League.”

Plans would see the warehouse subdivided into two and a bar, brewery area and toilets added. Estimated capacity for the space is 60-100.

“Our key goal isn’t cramming people in,” the planning statement added, “we want to provide a spacious area to enjoy a few beers with friends and family.

It is important to consider that space will be cleared from our main operational commitments and the tap room space will occupy roughly 50% or less of the space during these times – during operational periods, there will be no customers welcomed to the space.”

Opening times would be Friday 3-4pm to 10-11pm, Saturdays noon to 10-11pm and Sundays noon to 7-8pm.

“We fundamentally believe that focusing on our local, independent traders can [help regenerate the area],” the planning statement continued, “and what better way to help out than setting up our first ever craft brewery.”

We want to provide a spacious area to enjoy a few beers with friends

and family.
