Popular festival set to return in Stockton

-

THE popular Eid Fusion Festival is returning to Ropner Park, offering something for the family.

The fun-packed day brings together local British, Asian and other ethnic communities across Teesside.

Ropner Park in Stockton is set to be filled with array of Asian food and a variety of crafts and stalls.

The event is set to take place on Sunday, July 17, starting at noon and running until 5pm.

Event co-ordinator Vicki Nicholson revealed what was lined up at the upcoming festival.

She said: “There is a disco for young people followed by a rock band and the headline act is Zahir Abbass and his Qawwali band.

“There are three marquees, food, crafts and clothes and a health and wellbeing zone plus inflatables, fairground rides, a climbing wall, football activities, a mobile library, unicycling and juggling, as well as games for the younger children.

“Many of these activities are free. There will be more than thirty stalls along the main avenue, selling food, jewellery, crafts and clothes. There should be something for everyone to enjoy.”

The festival first took place in 2014 and now attracts more than 3,500 people each year.

It is organised by Friends of Ropner Park and Community

Welfare Trust. This year, the event has been funded by the Tees Valley Place Animation Fund and Stockton Sixth Form College, who are sponsoring the ‘Moondogs’ rock band.

There was also cash from The Ropner Trust and Tees Valley Foundation Trust left from 2020.

Vicki added: “The festival offers the local community the opportunity to come together

to celebrate our different cultures.”
