A POPULAR festival has announced its full star-studded line up – with indie legends, DJs and a former Spice Girl set to take to the stage.

Hardwick Festival at Sedgefield’s Hardwick Hall Hotel has added an extra date for the first time, with the event taking place from Friday, August 18, to Sunday, August 20.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and The Kooks are both confirmed as headliners for the festival, which attracted thousands in 2022.

In addition to the Saturday and Sunday headliners, Hardwick Live will play host to The Smiths’ Johnny Marr, The Vaccines, The Cribs, Spice Girls’ Melanie C and rising local star Andrew Cushin, from Newcastle.

Andrew, who is set to support One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson on tour this year, said: “It’s an absolute pleasure to be returning to Hardwick again this year!

“Three years running is a real statement, and to climb up the bill once again is something I’m immensely proud of, see you there!”

This year’s edition of Hardwick Festival marks a decade since its inaugural event in 2013.

Over the past ten years, the event has played host to some iconic artists, including Madness, Manic Street Preachers, Kaiser Chiefs, James, Razorlight and Adam Ant.

This year, dance music enthusiasts will also get their fix throughout the weekend with a line-up of internationally renowned DJs.

Headlining Friday is Hacienda Classical, a celebration of the iconic Manchester club with an orchestrated twist. The continuous live DJ set will spin the biggest tracks of the era alongside a full orchestra, choir and guest vocalists.

New York DJ and remixer Dennis Ferrer will bring his mix of house and soulful techno to the Festival’s dance-focused Courtyard stage on Saturday. Low Steppa will headline the stage on Sunday, with the ‘First Lady’ of Defected Records Sam Devine and BBC Radio 1 DJ Arielle Free also on the bill.

Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul Club will light up the main stage on Friday with his mix of classic funk, soul and disco.

The festival is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, with a children’s area with entertainment. Festival-goers can expect to find food stalls, a barbecue fire pit, themed bars and refreshments, from champagne to hot chocolate.

For the full weekend, tickets for children aged between three and 11 cost £35 (plus booking fee). Young people from ages 12 to 17 can attend with their parents or guardian for £80 (plus booking fee), half the price of an adult ticket.

Tickets can be purchased for individual days or for the full weekend.
