A SPECIAL event takes place this weekend to mark the Coronation of King Charles III.

On Sunday, May 28, Teesside District Sea Cadets will hold a parade from Albert Park followed by a service at the Cenotaph in celebration of the coronation.

Guests of honour will include His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, High Sheriff, Andy McDonald MP for Middlesbrough, Middlesbrough’s Mayor and Mayors from Stockton on Tees, Redcar and Cleveland and Guisborough Town Council Mayor. Middlesbrough Councillors and representatives of organisations including Cleveland Police and Cleveland Fire

Brigade and ex-forces standard bearers.

At 10.45am the parade, led by the Cleveland Army Cadet Force Corps of Drums and with an escort, will march from the East Lodge at Albert Park to the Cenotaph on Linthorpe Road, outside the Dorman Museum.

The parade, consisting of sea, army and police cadets, will then be inspected by the Lord Lieutenant and civic parties. The service led by Rev Robert Desics with prayers led by the cadets will then take place.

After the service the parade will march back to the East Lodge with the salute being taken at the South African War Memorial.

Refreshments will then be served at the East Lodge, with the event expected to be concluded by noon for civics but there will be a marine display, a PT Display, cake stall, tombola and much more for anyone who would like to stay and take part.

I would like to thank all the civic officers of the various councils and Julie Lewis of Middlesbrough Council along with Tracey Roulston and staff at the Dorman Museum and Craig Holmes and Donald Cramb and staff at Albert Park for all their invaluable help in assisting the sea cadets to bring together everyone to celebrate His

Majesty King Charles III Coronation - all their hard work is truly appreciated.
