The lightest of the tents reviewed, the Tiger Wall still has ample space for two. Indeed, it’s roomier than most of the heavier tents. To achieve this weight the fabrics are very thin – indeed, the flysheet is almost translucent. It’s still waterproof though and has withstood some heavy downpours. The groundsheet is still waterproof too but probably won’t stay that way without using a footprint.

Big Agnes says “to extend the life of your tent floor we recommend using a Big Agnes footprint, sold separately.” This footprint adds 170 grams to the weight, which still means this tent is the lightest tested.

The fabrics are more environmentally friendly than most as they are solution-dyed, which “drastically reduces energy and water use during manufacture”.

The Tiger Wall is a tapered wedge with one long pole split into a Y at the higher end plus a linked cross pole at the apex to lift the inner for better headroom and add stability. Pitching is inner-first. This is easy and fast to do but, as always with inner-first-pitching tents, it would get damp in rain, especially as the inner is mostly mesh. The groundsheet does have high side walls to protect against any splashes coming under the flysheet, which almost comes down to the ground anyway.

The inner is roomy with good headroom and steep walls. It features built-in LED lights that can be routed along the tent ceiling. These require three AAA batteries to run.

Two porches mean each person has their own door. The porches aren’t quite as big as some but still have room for gear storage, cooking and easy access. The doors can be opened in various ways so you can always have one open protected from the weather.

The Big Agnes Tiger Wall is an ultralight tent. More care is needed than with heavier tents, but if you want plenty of room without much weight it’s a great choice.
