Lane near drive to Rhyd-fawr

GR: SO190264

Park at tiny layby (two cars) 100m S of drive to Rhyd-fawr, or on verge nearby. Walk up tarmac drive from FP sign, and through farm gate – or cross stile. Cross yard to gate opposite and enter field. Turn R along field edge. Cross stile and continue to next fence. Turn uphill to corner of field and pass metal gate. Pass small gate into enclosure with barn and head 50m uphill to broken stile.

Climb over onto moor. (Ignore FP marked on map.)

2 Follow path by wall uphill along edge of moor, then follow wall up. Where wall and fence turn sharp R by gate, leave and continue straight ahead up shoulder of high ground. Follow path all the way to level ground, to meet path from Pen Allt-mawr.

3 Turn L on path and follow NE to small summit mound of Pen Twyn Glas. Follow path N, then NNE, descending northern slope of Mynydd Llysiau to cairn.

4 Turn sharply L to head SW then S. After a while, path runs by large walled field. At corner, turn sharp R to head W along southern wall of field. Leave moor by small pumphouse, via two gates onto walled track.

5 At end of track, turn R on lane. On bend, cross gate on left (unmarked FP) onto track, which emerges close to crossroads. Follow lane S over Nant yr Ychen to starting point.
