Chris Townsend
Equipment editor and long-time contributor Chris has recently enjoyed the return of winter to the Cairngorms, finding no sign of spring in the hills, but rather a need to still carry ice axe and crampons with the easiest way to travel being on skis or snowshoes. Chris was also surprised at how much snow there still was in the Torridon region when he headed that way for a couple of nights of wild camping after lockdown restrictions lifted (p74). This late cold weather has been good for testing winter sleeping bags and insulated jackets too!
