FOR SOME OF US, the welcoming rush and thrill of adventure from the outdoors are calling in a post-lockdown era; for others, it’s the peace and tranquillity of nature that has the strongest allure. Heading Home by Lesley Woodbrooks perfectly captures the essence of the latter. “I am continually inspired by the ever-changing colours of the Scottish sky – the same scene can transform minute by minute as we frequently experience all four seasons in one day!”
Lesley notes her inspiration comes from dramatic landscapes and observes that although here she has captured a moment of calm, there’s still an essence of the unpredictable: “We don’t choose when the sun will set, how many layers of colour the sky will glow with... it is very liberating to experience nature when it is so much bigger and powerful than myself!
“I don’t paint photorealistic pictures but prefer to let the painting follow its own direction.”
Lesley hosts an annual exhibition in Kirkintilloch to help raise money for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. See more of her work at lesleywoodbrooks.com
