James Forrest

James is a former newspaper reporter turned outdoors and adventure travel writer. He is the author of Mountain Man: 446 Mountains. Six Months. One Record-Breaking Adventure, the TGO book of the year in 2019, and is best-known for completing a 3-year mission to climb 1,001 mountains across the UK and Ireland. He also completed a solo, self-supported round of all 214 Wainwrights in 14 days and 11 hours in 2020. Since the easing of lockdown in 2021, James has enjoyed fast-hiking the 299km Pembrokeshire Coast Path and 154km West Highland Way; see his feature about the latter on p36.
