Scarpa unveils a biodegradable shoe

The new Mojito Bio shoe from Scarpa is made from plantbased materials that, after their usable life, will naturally biodegrade. The midsole is made of medium-density biodegradable EVA. The tread is also biodegradable and includes natural rubber. Scarpa says it has excellent grip and durability compared to synthetic rubber. The uppers are made of PET yarn from recycled plastic bottles, which is woven with knit technology that avoids scrap production. Construction is carried out using only water-based, nonpolluting adhesives, whilst all other components have a vegetable base, including the packaging, which is made with recycled paper.
