Cornwall Land’s End

-

Start

St Just bus station

GR: SW369313

From bus stop head towards nearby fire station and turn L past it and library, then immediately R. L at T-junction, R at next junction and R again at T-junction (Cape Cornwall Road), then almost immediately L (Chapel Road). At crossroads turn L and follow lane to end at Boscean.

Keep ahead down path (signed for Cape Cornwall). Path runs above Kenidjack valley, soon joined by coast path (CP) from R. Route direction very straightforward from now on, following CP all the way to Mill Bay/Nanjizal via Land’s End. Headland of Cape Cornwall itself well worth including – after ascending to chimney atop its summit, head down W tip to NCI (National Coastwatch Institution) lookout, then continue round S side of headland to Priest’s Cove.

CP carries on back uphill to Carn Gloose, then descends to valley and Porth Nanven.

NB: Just after leaving road at Carn Gloose, take brief waymarked detour to Ballowall Barrow. Straightforward walking along cliffs S to Whitesand Bay – two beaches, Gwynver and Sennen Cove, popular with surfers and families. Latter can usually be walked – easier when tide out.

CP continues alongside road to harbour, then uphill again and along well-used clifftop path to Land’s End (best in the evening after day-trippers have departed).

Choice of paths from here, but best is to keep closest to coast. Continue along cliffs descending to Mill Bay/Nanjizal, crossing footbridge. Steps lead down to beach.

Turn inland up track (bridleway) to Higher Bosistow, then L to Bosistow Farm and R to Polgigga (here Land’s End Vineries offers accommodation).

Finish

Polgigga bus stop by duck pond

GR: SW376238

(Car park by green & war memorial at Trethewey 400m E on B3315, with another bus stop nearby.)
