Keela uses its own ADS (Active Dispersal System) fabric in this top, a structured polyester with a smooth face next to the skin for collecting moisture and an aerated outer face with a greater surface area for evaporation. I used this across a wide range of temperatures and activities, and rarely felt damp inside. The fabric has four-way stretch but is also a relaxed fit, so it can only pick up sweat where it touches skin. Length is generous with a slightly scooped back, so there’s plenty to tuck in or stay secure beneath a rucksack hipbelt. The collar is low-profile with a short zip, handy for airflow. Keela has not stinted on seams: there are five down each side, in addition to the main front and back panels. Most are flat-locked, but they’re raised under the arms, down the torso and across the lower back where a hipbelt sits. This is a shame as they’re fairly hefty, with a few loopy edges. The relaxed fit prevents them being an issue unless worn under a snug-fitting mid layer or rucksack. Shoulders are raglan with no seams under a rucksack harness, which is good. Odour control isn’t bad: I could keep this on the go for up to three days without being threatened with divorce proceedings. It’s not the most sophisticated base layer in this line-up, but at the price it’s a bargain.
