Salewa’s Pedroc ploughs a different furrow, in aesthetics at least. The fabric is 100% recycled polyester with anti-odour Polygiene silver chloride treatment. It’s soft, with ‘give’ rather than obvious stretch, and doesn’t get smelly as rapidly as untreated polyester. Wicking is efficient via capillary action as the fit is relaxed but not loose, and the slightly textured outer face ensures rapid drying. The cut leans to warm weather action: a scooped neck, relaxed fit and three-quarter sleeves. The neck is just narrow enough to cover bra straps and shorter sleeves avoid any cuff clash; it can feel a bit crowded down there with multiple cuffs sitting in the same place. Narrow seams are flatlocked except for internal sides seams, which I could feel, especially when wearing a rucksack.

The arm panels are unusual: a panel from collar to halfway down the upper arm ends in a horizontal seam around the upper arm. Sleeve panels are offset from this, so you have a seam either side of the shoulder, and two from the horizontal seam to the cuff. Women with chunkier arms might want to check fit, as there is no real stretch in seams or fabric. Neat side scoops at the hem help the top sit inside or outside a waistband and length is hipbelt-friendly. It’s not super-technical, but it looks cute, is enjoyable to wear and a good choice for warm weather as a single layer.
