LIFE OF A MOUNTAIN: A YEAR ON HELVELLYN directed by Terry Abraham

THE FINALE of the Life of a Mountain trilogy, this film from multi awardwinni­ng filmmaker and photograph­er Terry Abraham showcases the very best of iconic Lakeland peak Helvellyn. Originally shown on BBC Four, the film is also now available on DVD. The Alpinist directed by Peter Mortimer

Billed as Free Solo but on ice, The Alpinist follows MarcAndré Leclerc, a free-spirited 23-year-old taking on some of the boldest solo ascents ever. With no rope and no margin for error, his approach intrigued veteran filmmaker Peter Mortimer (The Dawn Wall), who captured the elusive, publicity-shy Canadian during his historic adventure in Patagonia. “A beautiful and poignant film – very touched by it” commented one reader.
