Garmin has a new Instinct model powered by the sun

The Instinct Solar is a rugged outdoor watch with unlimited battery life in Battery Saver Mode and over two months’ battery life in Expedition Mode, given sufficient solar exposure. The watch also has a reinforced polymer case and a scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla glass face. It’s thermal-, shock- and water-resistant down to 100 metres. There are apps for various activities, including hiking, and a heart rate monitor. As well as GPS the Instinct tracks GLONASS and Galileo satellites. Other features include altimeter, barometer, compass and Tracback Routing so you can retrace your steps. The Instinct Solar costs £320.
