1 Start/Finish

Parking W of bridge below Newbridge-on-Wye GR: SO013582

From bridge, walk N up lane for almost 1km and go R through small gate by cottage (signed Wye Valley Walk). Follow right of way, through series of small gates, to Ty’n-y-coed. Go L and take next gate on R. Proceed through more gates, cross footbridge in valley and continue to lane. Turn R, downhill, and cross bridge.

2 Walk N along good track for 1.3km. Fork L uphill on path for 500m and go R to corner of wall. Keep ahead, uphill, and veer L towards broad top of Trembyd. Continue SW, over col, to shelter on summit of Drum Ddu.

3 Descend W, then NW, to col 3 below Y Gamriw. Take path to foot of slope and continue N to climb to top of escarpment. Turn L to trig point and summit shelter.

4 Leave top, WSW, for 700m, cross an establishe­d path and descend S alongside ravine named Cwm Pistyll. At bottom of slope, pick a route across rough ground and continue for 1.2km to gate between patches of forestry.

5 Pass Little Pudding 5 Cottage, walk down track and cross river just before bridge. Climb SE to Bryn Ceinon and go E, with fence on R, around head of valley. Continue S over open hillside to Llethr Melyn and Craig Chwefri. Head E to cross col and continue SE to

Lan Ganol and Allt Clych. Descend steep NE spur to gate at lane and turn R to B4358.

6 Turn L for 100m and take 6 bridleway on R, with several gates, for 1.5km. Turn L at lane and walk back to B4358. Turn R to return to start after 1.7km.
