Rich Hartfield

When he’s not on tour with a band, you’ll probably find sound engineer Richard up a mountain somewhere. A passionate walker, fell runner and climber, he has backpacked across the Alps, the Pyrenees and much of Eastern Europe – as well as an epic crossing of the Caucasus mountains, which he writes about poignantly in this edition (p58). Having just enjoyed some winter climbing in Scotland, Richard is now volunteering at a hostel in the Swiss Alps, where his hosts are kindly trying to teach him how to ski!
