Francesca Donovan revisits her first scramble
WHEN YOU THINK of the Peak District, scrambling may not come to mind. But Britain’s first national park, with its gritstone gullies and escarpments, actually offers some good easy scrambling. This route takes in a mild scramble up a clough and a short but pulse-racing clamber up a gritstone tower known as The Trinnacle (the sort of photogenic formation that regularly makes its way onto Instagram!)
Under the cover of some cloud after a lazy, hot summer, I thought it was about time to test the upper body strength. The dry conditions provided the perfect opportunity to tackle The Trinnacle without running the risk of slippery stone underfoot.
