1 Start/Finish

Car park at Bont Newydd GR: SH664718 Cross a wooden footbridge and follow the path to Aber Falls for 200m to where it divides. Take the narrow path branching left.

2 Follow the narrow path for 2.6km to a sheepfold, taking care on rocky ground above the falls.

3 Follow the river upstream for 1.8km, passing a sequence of cascades and waterfalls.

4 Where safe to do so cross the river. Follow a tributary south-west for 700m towards the tor of Bera Mawr. Clamber over the frost-shattered rocks with care to reach the summit.

5 Retrace your steps for 100m then head southwest for a further 500m to reach the top of Bera Fach.

6 Head south-east for 500m to join a track descending from Carnedd Gwenllian.

7 Follow the path west-northwest for 1.6km, passing just to the south of the broad summit of Drosgl.

8 Continue along the path to the north-west for 1.5km to an intersecti­on of tracks.

9 Take the right-hand path, descending into Cwm Aber for 800m to an abandoned mine.

10 Continue along the path due north for 2km, passing beneath power cables.

12 Take the path north-northeast, crossing Ffridd Ddu for 700m.

12 Take the farm track, heading at first gently downhill north-west for 300m then steeply north-east into the village of Abergwyngr­egyn.

13 Take the minor road 13 south-east for 800m to return to Bont Newydd.
