I don’t have much time for canapes. I’ve spent far too long at par­ties hov­er­ing for the sin­gle tray of veg­e­tar­ian nib­bles, only to miss the last one. Party food should be for ev­ery­one. So this New Year’s Eve we’ll feast on this fo­cac­cia: easy to share, and fill­ing enough to soak up a few glasses of fizz. And I think the first meal of a new year should mark how I in­tend to eat for the next 12 months. These waf­fles, along with my an­nual New Year’s Day dip in the sea, will start 2019 in the best pos­si­ble way.
