• An ar­ti­cle was wrong to say that Liver­pool is the only UK city to have been named Euro­pean cap­i­tal of cul­ture. Glas­gow was also awarded that sta­tus in 1990, though Liver­pool (in 2008) is the only Eng­lish city to have been hon­oured (A cul­ture boost for towns must just be the start, 5 Jan­uary, page 5, Jour­nal).

• When we re­ferred to cy­cle-hire docks be­ing at­tacked with “axle grinders”, we meant an­gle grinders (Bike-share com­pany Ofo with­draws from Lon­don, 11 Jan­uary, page 42).
