Photographer Martin Parr has been capturing the British way of life for four decades now. Although he was born in Surrey, Manchester was where he started his career, with the city’s energy and diversity a huge inspiration. This new exhibition mixes some of his early work with a new commission aimed at reflecting Manchester now.

He was a cameraman on comedian Graham Fellows’s 2006 film It’s Nice Up North, in which Fellows’s alter ego John Shuttleworth explored Shetland.
