In 1959, Al­bert Irvin – one of Bri­tain’s most im­por­tant post­war painters – vis­ited The New Amer­i­can Paint­ing ex­hi­bi­tion at the Tate. It pro­foundly changed him as an artist, a shift show­cased in this col­lec­tion of works by Irvin along­side some of the artists that in­spired him, in­clud­ing Jack­son Pol­lock.
